Frequently Asked Questions
WHICH IS BETTER? HAND SANITIZER VS HANDWASHINGWITH SOAP?
The CDC states that “washing hands (with soap and water) is the best way to get rid of germs in most situations,” and “if soap and water are not readily available, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.” However, they also say that “hand sanitizers are the most effective products for reducing the number of germs on the hands of healthcare providers.“
To summarize, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and then apply hand sanitizer. If your hands are already clean, you may use a hand sanitizer between washings. Dirty hands reduce the effectiveness of hand sanitizer. Both are important!
IS HAND SANITIZER BAD FOR YOU OR TOXIC?
We don’t know about other hand sanitizer brands, but KOALA Hand Sanitizer Gel is non-toxic and safe to use on hands. However, swallowing hand sanitizers can cause alcohol poisoning. DO NOT SWALLOW and keep out of reach of small children. Please refer to our complete list of ingredients below.
WHICH HAND SANITIZER IS BEST?
According to the CDC, the best hand sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol. Since alcohol is drying, we think the best hand sanitizer should also contain vegetable glycerin or pure aloe vera gel to help moisturize the skin. Aloe vera gel and vegetable glycerin are the two base ingredients recommended for hand sanitizer.
